Significant expansion of BSCCB production capacities at the SGL Carbon site in Meitingen

The expansion of production capacities is a significant milestone for the Brembo SGL Carbon Ceramic Brakes (BSCCB) joint venture and is evidence of the company's successful development in recent years. The associated construction of two new production halls at the SGL Carbon site in Meitingen is an important event for BSCCB, its owners but also for the region, which was celebrated with guests from politics and business as well as representatives of the owners and the BSCCB workforce.

After completion, the two new production halls will have a total area of around 8,500 m². The construction is scheduled to be completed as early as October 2024. Immediately after completion, the installation of new production machinery will begin. The start of production in the new manufacturing facilities for high-quality carbon ceramic brakes is scheduled for January 2025. The expansion of production capacities will create around 80 new jobs in various production professions at the Meitingen site.

Martin Sailer, District Administrator of the Augsburg district, brought a special gift to the laying of the foundation stone: The official building permit which he personally handed over to Alexander Miehling, site manager of SGL Carbon in Meitingen. In his speech, Martin Sailer emphasized the importance of the expansion not only for the Meitingen region but for the entire Augsburg district.

Florian Hofner, Managing Director of Brembo SGL Carbon Ceramic Brakes GmbH, explains, "With the two new production halls we are building here in Meitingen, we are laying the foundation for BSCCB's growth in the coming years. Our customers have appreciated our products for years, so I am glad that we will be able to meet the significantly increased demand in the future. This will not only secure our market share but also keep us a reliable employer here in the region. I look forward to seeing our team continue to grow in the coming years."

Production capacities at the Meitingen and Stezzano (Italy) sites will be expanded by more than 70%. The extensive expansion of production capacities will enable Brembo SGL Carbon Ceramic Brakes (BSCCB) to meet high market demand and cover increasing customer requirements in the future. The demand for carbon ceramic brake discs from BSCCB has increased worldwide. This is mainly due to the high product quality and performance of carbon ceramic brake discs, which meet the specific requirements of automotive manufacturers, especially in the premium and luxury segments where high braking performance is required.
